Want to improve work efficiency when using MacBook Pro/ Air? No longer just use Split View, connecting to a second monitor can open more apps or web pages at the same time. For you who value high efficiency, using dual monitors benefits all kinds of tasks!
When doing graphic design, video editing, coding, etc., you must often use different apps alternately. Today, we will share with you how MacBook dual monitors can help multitasking be more efficient. Let’s go through these popular and commonly used software and see how to effectively configure their work area on the extended window.
When using Photoshop or Illustrator, you often need to import and export materials or to manage a large number of files. Just open two software windows on dual monitor - Photoshop on MacBook and Finder or photo library on the external monitor, and then you can directly drag photos, and quickly open them in Photoshop.
You can also place the frequently-used floating panel on the second monitor, so the image being edited can be maximized on Photoshop workspace without visual interference from other panels.
If you are used to typesetting with Affinity Publisher, you can open the original files and manuscripts on the other monitor and paste the text of each page in an orderly manner, and insert or replace pictures more quickly.
When the photographer manages photos, different folders can be opened at the same time on both screens, and the file classification and management become more efficient! When using Pixelmator Pro or Lightroom for post-production, you can browse the photo library while dragging photos into the software, which saves much time and effort.
In Lightroom, you can open the secondary window by clicking the Second Display. Select the thumbnail photos on the main screen, and the auxiliary Lightroom window can immediately display the maximized picture to help you quickly browse the details of the picture.
Use the second monitor to compare the post-produced photo and original photo:
When MacBook is connected to a second monitor, open Final Cut Pro X, and click Window>Show in Secondary Display ,or click the "Two-Monitor" icon in the toolbar at the top to relocate the "Browser," "Viewer"or "Timeline" on your second screen.
When using Logic Pro X to create music, you can operate the main control panel on the left screen, and play mixers, Alchemy and other synthesizers or other plug-ins on the right screen. Place the editor window on the dual monitor according to your usage habits to make music composition much easier to operate.
Whether you are a UI engineer or a software developer, opening 2 or 3 windows at the same time is as natural as breathing. While writing Code in Vim or XCode, open a browser on the external monitor to check the front-end display status at any time.
App design often adopts Adobe XD/Sketch to design UI, which can be used with Adobe Ai and Ps on the second monitor for drawing, browsing or testing the app’s interface on different devices at any time. This helps a lot when needing to repeatedly confirm and adjusting the details.
If you are a full-time translator or book editor, you often need to compare two versions of manuscripts. When you open two windows at the same time, you can easily compare the paragraphs and words on both sides of MacBook dual monitors.
As a playwright / writer, you may find viewing the mind map on Scapple, while opening Ulysses to write the continuous context of the story making your inspiration no longer being interrupted due to switching the windows.
If you still need to view Skype messages or calendars, with Mac’s Split View function, you can open 3~4 windows at the same time!
When using Facetime/Skype for multiple people online meeting on MacBook, the second monitor can be used to check data, open documents, take notes or use Keynote Live for live presentations (support up to 35~100 attendees at the same time). Meetings with colleagues and customers is more convenient even working remotely.
In addition to the configuration of the extended screen, the dual monitors can also use mirror mode to synchronize two screens. In a small meeting between two people or during binge-watching dramas with friends, you can share the screen without huddling together.
