How to use the new version of Snipping Tool
The following steps are based on Snipping Tool version 11.2307.48.0. Different version may display different content. The method of still image capturing, please refer to the previous article.

🎥 How to Record Video :
1. Click the Windows logo key, enter "Snipping Tool" in the search bar and open the application. It can be pinned to the taskbar so that it can be opened at any time.
2. ❶ Select the Record icon→ ❷ Click the "+New" button (Ctrl+N)
3. Drag the mouse to circle the recording area with a rectangle. The selected range can be fine-tuned before recording, which is very convenient.
4. Click the "Start" button, and the screen will count down for three seconds before starting recording; you can click to pause or resume recording at any time. Click the Stop button after finishing recording.
5. For recording, you can select [Edit in Clipchamp] on the right side of the upper toolbar; for screenshot, [Edit in Paint] will appear in the toolbar. In addition, you can also click "Save as new file" or "Copy" to other folders or files.
Additional Tips : Use Shortcut Keys to Start Screen Recording
According to the Windows insider (preview version) article published on Aug. 31, 2023. The new version of the snipping tool (version 11.2307.44.0) will integrate screenshot mode and recording mode into shortcut keys, which can be easily switched. No need to click the application to open, just use the [Win + Shift + R] shortcut key to open the screen recording toolbar; and use the [Win + Shift + S] shortcut key to turn on the screenshot mode.
In addition, the new version of screen recording finally supports the voice recording function. You can choose to record PC sound effects or voiceover with microphone. If you have multiple voice recording devices, you can choose the preferred device before starting to record the video.
*Note: The sound recording feature is currently available only in the preview version, and the general official release cannot enable it yet. If your version does not support sound recording, and you need to capture audio for your videos, you can try the following methods
Tip ❶ : Use the shortcut key [Win+G] to open the Xbox Game Bar for screen recording, which can record the screen and sound.
Tip ❷ : Use PowerPoint’s built-in screen recording tool or download third-party screen recording software, such as ScreenRec、Free Cam、OBS etc.
Editing with the Built-in Free Clipchamp
You can log in to Clipchamp in advance. After the snipping tool completes recording, select [Edit in Clipchamp] in the toolbar, and the video will be directly imported into the Clipchamp timeline, allowing you to edit immediately.
